Sports Injuries
From acute injury management to return-to-sport testing — comprehensive sports injury care under one roof.
Sports injuries are not just events — they are information. They tell you something about how your body is loading, moving, and managing stress. At INVICTUS, the injury is the starting point of a deeper conversation.
Whether you have just picked up an acute injury or are managing something that has been lingering for months, the assessment process is the same: thorough history, movement analysis, structural examination, and a clear diagnosis.
Rudy works with athletes across all sports — from AFL and team sport athletes and endurance runners to combat sports competitors and CrossFit athletes. The approach is always sport-specific, and return-to-sport criteria are objective, not based on how you feel.
The aim is to support your return to competition — with a clear understanding of what caused the injury, the capacity to handle sport demands again, and a plan aimed at reducing the likelihood of recurrence.
How we treat it
Acute injury management
Immediate assessment and management to protect the injured tissue, manage load appropriately, and set the conditions for optimal recovery.
Structural assessment
Orthopaedic and movement assessment to confirm the diagnosis and rule out conditions requiring imaging or specialist referral.
Manual therapy
Hands-on treatment to restore joint mechanics, reduce pain, and support tissue healing.
Rehabilitation
A structured, progressive rehabilitation program specific to your injury and your sport.
Return-to-sport testing
Objective functional testing to confirm you are genuinely ready — not just pain-free — before returning to full training or competition.
Recurrence prevention
Prehab programming to address the root cause and reduce the likelihood of re-injury.
Sports Injuries — FAQ
As soon as possible. Early assessment means a clearer picture of the injury, appropriate management in the critical early days, and the best conditions for a timely return to sport. Waiting for pain to settle on its own often delays the process.
Yes. Book your appointment as soon as possible after the injury. Rudy will assess it, provide immediate treatment where appropriate, and advise on management in the hours and days following.
Most sports injuries can be diagnosed clinically. If imaging is indicated — for example, to rule out a fracture or confirm a ligament tear — Rudy will refer you appropriately and co-ordinate with the findings.
Return-to-sport is based on objective functional criteria, not just the absence of pain. These criteria are sport-specific and agreed with you at the start of your rehabilitation.
