Not your typical chiropractor: Why Rudy does things differently

Invictus isn't a crack-and-send clinic. Here's how Rudy approaches sports chiropractic on the Gold Coast — and why it produces better outcomes for active people.

Sports chiropractic at INVICTUS Sport & Spine in Bundall is built around a clear clinical framework — thorough assessment, evidence-based treatment, and active rehabilitation as a core part of every plan.

Here's what that looks like in practice.

UK-trained, sports-focused from the start

I completed my chiropractic training in the UK — MSc Chiropractic (AECC) — where the curriculum puts a strong emphasis on clinical reasoning, musculoskeletal science, and patient-centred care. Before that, I spent eight years as a personal trainer. That background matters more than it might sound.

Understanding how people train, what their loads actually look like, and how they move outside the clinic shapes everything about how I assess and treat. I'm thinking about what you're doing in the gym, on the track, or at work — and building a plan that accounts for it.

My continuing education has been deliberately focused on sports performance, injury rehabilitation, and evidence-informed treatment. Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and the best available clinical research.

A full toolkit — not just adjustments

Spinal manipulation can be useful. But it's one tool, not the whole job.

At INVICTUS, treatment is built around what each person actually needs. Depending on the presentation, that might include:

  • Soft tissue therapy: Active Release Technique (ART), IASTM/Graston, MET
  • Joint mobilisation and manipulation — when clinically indicated, not as default
  • Strength and rehab programming tailored to your goals and training demands
  • Load management education and return-to-training planning
  • Low-level laser therapy for certain soft tissue conditions

No two presentations are the same, so no two treatment plans should be either.

Every session includes assessment and treatment

Every session at INVICTUS includes a proper assessment or reassessment, hands-on treatment, and — in most cases — exercise or rehab guidance.

What you get is an honest picture of what's going on, a clear plan to address it, and the tools to manage it yourself once we're done.

Built for people who move

I work primarily with people who are active — or who want to get back to being active. Runners with recurring niggles. Gym-goers dealing with load-related injuries. Desk workers with persistent neck or back pain affecting their training. Tradies managing repetitive strain from physical work.

The common thread isn't sport. It's caring about how your body performs — and wanting care that treats the actual problem rather than just the symptom.

The bottom line

What INVICTUS offers is a clear clinical assessment, a diagnosis that makes sense, and a plan that respects your time, your goals, and your body.

If that's what you've been looking for, come in.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a sports chiropractor different from a regular chiropractor?

Sports chiropractors have specific training in musculoskeletal injury, sports performance, and active rehabilitation. The approach integrates soft tissue therapy, exercise programming, and load management — with active rehabilitation as a central part of the treatment plan alongside hands-on care.

Do you only treat athletes?

No. The majority of people I see aren't professional athletes — they're active people who want to stay that way. The same approach applies to a runner with a heel injury and a desk worker with chronic neck pain.

How is INVICTUS different from other chiropractic clinics on the Gold Coast?

At INVICTUS, the focus is on thorough assessment, integrating active rehabilitation into every treatment plan, and building your capacity to manage independently. You'll receive a clear plan with a realistic endpoint.

Will you just adjust me and send me home?

No. Every appointment involves a proper intake or reassessment, treatment, and in most cases some form of exercise or rehab guidance. Whether you need a spinal adjustment depends on what's actually going on — not routine.

Do I need a referral?

No. Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners — you can book directly without a GP referral. If something needs specialist involvement, we'll refer from there.

What conditions do you treat?

Back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, knee and hip issues, headaches, nerve pain (including sciatica), tendon injuries, sports injuries, and overuse conditions. If you're not sure whether your issue fits, send us a message — we'll give you a straight answer.
